In the biggest 'single drop' deal the company has ever secured, 485 separate locations will benefit from around 1,000 pre-configured units provided from across the entire product range. And the Met's neighbouring force, the Surrey Constabulary, has piggy-backed on the £2.4m deal to bring the total number of UK police forces now served to four.
NRG's products supplied under the terms of the deal range from single laptop computers and desktop copiers for small police stations, to major multifunctional devices servicing significant workloads at New Scotland Yard, Criminal Justice Units and other major administrative sites. Simultaneous to delivery, both forces switched from analogue to digital technology which also had to be incorporated into the challenging installation carried out by three teams who all had to undergo strict Home Office security vetting.
Commenting on the contract, the Met's procurement manager Paul Bentley said : 'The competitive level of pricing coupled with NRG's obvious ability to deliver on our requirements made the ultimate decision an easy one. 'There is a trust there which every partnership of this kind needs if it is to thrive. We're very confident that we have chosen well.'
The previous biggest single drop contract was with Zurich Financial Services where 700 multifunctional devices were supplied.
